Domaine Dampt Chablis Vieilles Vignes (half bottle) 2016

Chablis AOC

We love Chablis wines from the Dampt brothers’ superb estate. They always have such finesse, richness and intensity, thanks to meticulous winemaking every step of the way. From the 5-Star 2016 vintage, the wine shows great citrus, mineral intensity.

With frost and hail the size of ping pong balls, 2016 had its challenges. The harvest in Chablis was a lot smaller than usual but that proved great news for quality and intensity of flavour. The Dampt brothers own top vineyards and produce some of the region’s finest wines. That’s why, every year, we hot-foot it to their cellar door eager to try out the new wines. The appellation’s Kimmeridgian clay soils, a risky climate that often only just ripens the grapes, plus the domaine’s excellent sites, and exacting standards in the vineyard, all conspire to produce such special wines. The crisp 2016 has hay, citrus and bright fruit aromas that’ll develop honeyed intensity as it matures. Enjoy in handy half bottle size, with seafood dishes.
