Bott Geyl is one of Alsace's top estates. Its renowned for "deep, clear, fruity and vivacious wines, full of elegance, mineral expression and aging potential" (Wine Advocate), embodied here in this superb Grand Cru Gewurz. Rich, spicy and luscious.
It means reserving the latest vintage before it is bottled. By paying an instalment 'up front', you reserve wine while it is still in the barrel, before the wines are shipped to the UK up to 18 months after being reserved, depending on the region.

Beyond the Label
Honeyed spice, pineapple, ripe exotic fruits, sweetness and minerality
Lychee, exotic spice, kumquat, pineapple and flowers
Lying on France's eastern edge, Alsace is famous for its exquisite, pure fruit wines. One of its finest domaines is Bott Geyl, founded in 1795 by Jean-Martin Geyl and today run by Jean Christophe Bott and his wife Valérie. Jean Christophe took over in 1993, having gained experience in Meursault, Germany and the New World. He converted to organic in 2000, then biodynamic in 2002, uses wild yeasts for fermentation and firmly believes in minimal intervention in the cellar. He has 80 parcelles of vines over his 15 hectares, including six Grands Crus. Sonnenglaz is one of the finest. With heady rose petal and lychee scents, exotic fruit and fine minerality, this is a fine Gewurztraminer worthy of Grand Cru status. Superb with creamy pork dishes.
"Bott-Geyl's Grands Crus, especially the Gewurztraminers are outstanding and highly recommended"
Stephen Reinhardt Wine Advocate
