Wine Advocate describes Benjamin Leroux as “a very talented winemaker”. He made his name at the renowned Comte Armand but his dream was to get back to his roots and make his own wines from vine to bottle. He owns a few vineyards and augments this with fruit from other top quality growers. The Premier Cru Les Baudines lies at the highest point of the Chassagne Montrachet appellation, at 315 metres altitude. As a result its wines have a taut backbone of acidity that takes time to open out and gain opulence. Still, patience will certainly be rewarded. For drinking now, simply open early and decant. 2016 was a challenging vintage, but Leroux has pulled the rabbit out of the hat in this fine Premier Cru. Serve with oysters or lobster.

"Well balanced with a crisp line of acidity, harmonious and poised with a subtle touch of ginger" Neal Martin
