Chat with Vinny
A deliciously appetising Pinot Grigio, not from Italy, but from the ancient vineyards of Moldova. This forgotten wine country has made fine wines for centuries. This is an ultra modern take on the grape – pear and apple fruit with zingy freshness.
Tasting notes
Those orchard fruits again; nice, citrusy, stony bite
Aroma
Pear, apple, melon and lemon aromas
More information
There are many Pinot Grigio fans, so our Buyers always keep a sharp look out for a new star. This is a top buy from Moldova, a country that once supplied the noble courts of Russia. Today, a handful of wineries have been thoroughly brought up to date, like Albastrele, and are producing fabulous, bright, fruity, fresh wines. Moldova has excellent conditions for winemaking – indeed, can easily make wines organically thanks to bright sunshine and biting winds that keep the vines healthy – and also help to produce lots of intense flavour in the grapes. Our Buyer Beth is a bit of a champion of Moldova and would certainly recommend the lemon and mineral freshness and elegance of this white. Chill down and serve with fish dishes or creamy risotto.
