This silky, great value red shows Argentina produces much more than just great Malbec – it excels with Syrah too! The wine is from Zuccardi – a highly awarded, third generation family cellar founded in the 1960s by Don Alberto Zuccardi. He started an irrigation company first, then in 1963 he planted a vineyard to show other producers how his system could benefit grape quality. Familia Zuccardi is now one of Mendoza’s leading cellars, winner of Top Value Brand of the Year three times, and of a Lifetime Achievement award too. These days Alberto’s grandson Sebastián is chief winemaker, assisted by Rubén Ruffo. Syrah in this elegant red adds bramble fruit and structure to Malbec’s spicy violet notes. Tasty with chilli or beef stir-fry, or solo.
