Welcome to Chénas, the smallest of the Beaujolais region’s 10 crus. As more and more wine lovers succumb to Beaujolais’ pretty fruit charms, this cru in particular is developing a cult following. Its steep slopes make vineyard work difficult, and machinery is out of the question, but the flavour is rich and long. This is from Dominique Piron, whose family’s involvement with growing vines and winemaking dates back to 1590. Now Dominique has joined forces with long-standing friend Julien Revillon and together they have a vision to produce Beaujolais as fine and luscious as any Grand Cru Burgundy. They go to great lengths to achieve that in the vineyard and the cellar. Try this great Chénas and see what you think. Velvety, rich and complex.

"Complex stuff, this Chénas. Bursting with velvety fruit, with a savoury, spicy edge. Lovely" Lucy Lettice
