More information
This year we bring Confrères and friends a 12-year-old Jura Single Malt, once more following the trend of finishing in claret barrels – La Clarière, of course. This whisky is from Jura, a tiny, remote Scottish Isle with just one distillery. It's only 30 miles long, 7 miles wide and has just 200 inhabitants. It's a tough life out there – 60 miles from the mainland, the roaring Atlantic battering the west coast, while seals and sea eagles bask on the east. At the heart of this community lies the distillery (and a pub!), where this mellow malt was distilled. 12 years in barrel, finished with a few months in claret casks, this whisky offers sweet malt, smoky peat, red berries and cherry fruit. Smooth, sweetly peaty with long spice complexity.
