Chemins de Casel Pinot Noir 2015

Pays d'Oc IGP

Fine Pinot Noir is usually exclusive to Burgundy. That is where duo Collovray and Terrier started, but with their second estate they found high vineyards in the Languedoc. Here they craft silky, berry scented Pinot Noir with Burgundian expertise.

Jean-Luc Terrier and Christian Collovray may not be the oldest names on the block when it comes to Burgundy, but they are today attracting much praise and attention for their wines. Two childhood friends from Mâcon, they married two sisters, Brigitte and Florence, and have created two domaines – one in Burgundy’s Mâconnais, the other in the Languedoc’s Haute Vallée de l’Aude. High vineyards and shell riddled soils, very similar to those in the Mâcon, produce grapes of impressive elegance and depth, which they craft into wines that are very much in the mould of fine Burgundy, but a touch riper and more accessible – certainly in price. Ageing in oak casks, part new, adds to the finesse of the wine. Serve with lamb, duck or mushroom risotto.
