Trazzera Fiano 2015

Terre Siciliane IGT

Globetrotting winemaker Giorgio Flessati used the variety behind Campania’s famous Fiano di Avellino to produce this delicious white. Ripened high on the Sicilian hillsides, the grapes develop complex aromas and thrilling, stony, lemon flavour.

The island of Sicily “continues to shine as one of Italy’s star performers” (The Times). The hilly terrain and sunny climate are perfect for growing vines, and even celebrities such as actor Gérard Depardieu and rock star Mick Hucknall have bought properties there. This zippy white is made from Fiano, one of the country’s most characterful varieties, yet it’s little known outside Italy. Thick skins and low yields mean Fiano’s wines have lots of flavour. Trazzera is from our old friend Giorgio Flessati, who also makes wine in Chile’s remote Elqui Valley. He joined forces with Cantine Colomba to produce this white with almondy richness and orchard fruit flavours. A great alternative to Pinot Grigio, this wine is just the ticket with seafood.
