Less than 10% of Bordeaux is white, yet it makes deliciously light and fruity whites which, as this selection proves, offer amazing value too. Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris and Sémillon are the key grapes. Laithwaites Sauvignon is crisp and aromatic, more citrus and herbal than grassy and gooseberry. JMS Sauvignon is a richer, creamier style thanks to barrel ageing, while Château Le Coin is made from the softer Sauvignon Gris. For that classic combo of Sémillon and Sauvignon, try Le Grand Chai and Château Pontac Monplaisir – both citrus fresh, with toasty honeyed notes. And for a totally dry, unique 100% Sémillon, there’s Le C du Chai Cuvée Noble. Serve cool – but not cold – and prepare to be amazed!
