Albert Bichot has won much praise for its fine Burgundies, so this is a really smart buy. In 2013 the house was awarded ‘White Wine Producer of the Year’ at the prestigious IWC, while Wine Advocate wrote “They are making extremely fine wines.” And, rarely for Burgundy, the wines also offer great value. Over a century ago, Bichot started working with Château de Dracy, a property dating from 1298. It was built as a military fortress by the Duke of Burgundy, the winery and cellar constructed in 1728. For this wine rigorously selected Chardonnay grapes, from various plots, were part fermented and aged in oak. This is a most appealing white with fabulous freshness, richness and balance. Great with roast chicken, fish and soft cheeses.
