Just as we all thought affordable 2009 clarets were a thing of the past, our talented Buyer Jean-Marc pulls this out of his chapeau. Ripe, mature and rounded with complexity and length, Thilede Grillon is a delight. The Meynard family business was founded in Saint Loubes in the Gironde in 1988. Today it is run by Jacques Meynard assisted by a team of six, their indispensable skills ranging from vineyard management to winemaking to marketing. Château Thilede Grillon was originally Jacques’ mother’s family estate. The wine is dark garnet with an amber rim, a nose of prune, blackberry jam and wood spice. It has mellow fruit with silky tannins and a lovely persistent finish. A perfect match with aged steaks, slow-cooked casseroles or roasts.
