More information
Winemaking runs in the family of Thieuley owners Sylvie and Marie Courselle. Their father, Francis, was renowned for his key role in modernising Bordeaux whites in the 1970s and 1980s, while their uncle is our own chief winemaker, Haut-Brion trained, trophy winning Jean-Marc Sauboua. Sylvie and Marie themselves have broad experience, one having worked at the prestigious Chivite in Spain and the other at Languedoc’s prized Domaine de l’Hortus. At the family’s Château Thieuley, they use old, low yield, estate grapes – Sauvignon Blanc, along with richer, spicier Sauvignon Gris and Sémillon. Fermented in new oak, this white has a creamy spice edge to its honeyed lemon fruit and ages well. Perfect with sauced white meats or rich fish dishes.
