Looking for a pedigree white of incredible richness and complexity? You have it all here. It’s from a 5-Star cellar, dating back to 1673, in prestigious Châteauneuf du Pape. This appellation is best known for powerful reds. However, it also makes gorgeous, rich whites (though not in any quantity). No surprise, when you hear this wine uses grapes from two special vineyards – Rayas and Les Blaquières – that yield a tiny 24 hectolitres per hectare. Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate is full of praise for this wine – Jean-Marc Diffonty’s premier cuvée. It is only made in the best vintages, using grapes from half-century-old vines, part-fermented then aged in oak, 20% new, to lend spice to its ripe stone fruit and citrus. Match with creamy chicken.
