Chat with Vinny
Amidst the hype surrounding Bordeaux’s astonishing 2009 and 2010 vintages, 2008 is quietly emerging as an under the radar ‘sleeper’ year. This is a superb Gold medal Haut-Médoc from a fine estate close to big name Pauillac châteaux. A great buy.

More information
If you’ve ever wished you’d bought great vintage Cru Bourgeois claret years ago so you could enjoy it now, at perfect maturity, Château Ramage La Batisse Haut-Médoc 2008 is a godsend. Furthermore, it’s very well priced. From Bordeaux himself, our Buyer Jean-Marc Sauboua (JMS) has for years known the family behind this remarkable château, which lies a stone’s throw from famous Lafite and Mouton Rothschild vineyards. They hold large stocks of older vintages and give JMS preferential rates whenever they release some. The 2008 has a rounded harmony of cedar wood, cassis and liquorice complexity and the tannins have softened to melt in the mouth perfection. Stand the bottle upright 24 hours in advance, then decant. Even better in magnum size.
