The Haut-Médoc is one of Bordeaux’s most well-known appellations, famous for its sturdy Cabernet-rich clarets. With a history going back to the early 14th century, Château Lanessan has roots that are more established than many of the well-known names in the nearby commune of Saint-Julien (including 2éme Cru Classé Château Gruaud Larose). The Delbos family acquired the property in 1793 and passed it on to their descendants, the Boutillers. Eight generations later, they are still the custodians of the estate and its 40 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot vines. The property's 2020 has received much praise: Vinous wrote, "the 2020 Lanessan is impressive. Dark, layered and mysterious". For drinking now, open early or cellar.

"The 2020 packs serious punch, the blackberry jam, incense, scorched earth and leather" Antoni Galloni
