Critic Jeb Dunnock said, "I continue to love the wine from this estate." It may not have 'classed growth' status, but its three vineyard parcels are well positioned, boasting illustrious neighbours such as Latour, Mouton Rothschild, Lynch-Bages, Pichon Longueville Baron and Comtesse. Public records track the vineyards of Fonbadet back to 1789, and the current owners, the Peyronie family, have been growers in Pauillac since 1700. More recently they've employed the renowned consultant Michel Rolland to raise wine quality. The grapes are hand harvested plot-by-plot and rigorously sorted. After a classic vinification, the wine is aged in half new French oak. Six years old, it's best decanted to release flavours of black fruits, cigar and spice.
