Fairview is one of South Africa’s most historic estates, with vines planted there first in 1699. The property was bought by the grandfather of current owner Charles Back in 1937 and has since earned an international reputation for consistent quality across a range of innovative styles. It also makes prize winning cheese! Charles himself grew up there and went on to study oenology and viticulture at Stellenbosch University. His knowledge, expertise and experience make him one of the Cape’s top names in wine. Charles has a particular passion for Rhône varietals, Shiraz prime among them. This big spicy red has a velvety texture and bold black fruit. Its dark ripe spicy flavour marries well with slow cooked lamb shanks or a rich beef casserole.
