Arguably the leading producer in the northern Rhône, Michel Chapoutier has a wine heritage dating from 1808. Seven generations on, the family’s winemaking house has never been in better shape, thanks to Michel’s all consuming passion for the region’s terroir. In this Syrah he strives to bring out the finesse of Saint Joseph’s granite soil and according to Wine Advocate it is "a spicy, mineral-laced red with immediate appeal, yet it has the ability to improve for several years". Apart from a touch of hail for some in Saint Joseph, it was a near perfect vintage – low yields, but one of remarkable quality. With great ripeness, complexity and balance, this is classic Syrah to serve with roast rack of lamb, ratatouille or stuffed peppers.

"A spicy, mineral laced red. Scents of crushed stone and black olives are buffered by dark cherry" Joe Czerwinski
