The noble house of Albert Bichot has won much praise for its fine Burgundies – in 2013 they were awarded ‘White Wine Producer of the Year’ at the prestigious IWC, while Wine Advocate wrote “They are making extremely fine wines.” And, rarely for Burgundy, the wines also offer great value. Over a century ago, Bichot started working with Château de Dracy, a Côte de Beaune property with history going back to 1298. The castle was originally built as a military fortress by the Duke of Burgundy, while the still functioning winery and cellar were constructed in 1728. Rigorously selected Pinot Noir from various plots, carefully fermented, with a portion oak aged, this is a wonderful, silky red. Great with sauced white meats or a wild mushroom dish.
