Château Les Rochers 2018

Bordeaux AOC

Smooth, velvety Merlot fruit in this glorious ripe vintage Bordeaux. 2018 was particularly warm, so there’s lovely fruity depth with rounded tannins giving the wine structure. A well balanced claret for drinking now, but there’s no hurry.

Our Bordeaux buyer is a true Bordelais himself. This ensures he has a great network of contacts and is the first to hear about the best wines on the market. Château Les Rochers isn’t pretending to be a classed growth, but is a simple Bordeaux with all the class and elegance you’d expect of this great region. It’s from an estate owned by the Roux family for five generations. The name Les Rochers, ‘the rocks’, comes from the limestone-rich soil, which keeps the vines very well drained. As you’d expect in the Entre Deux Mers, the grapes are Merlot, with both Cabernets playing second fiddle. All fruit, no oak, this is a very accessible Bordeaux red. For now, open early and serve with grilled or cold meats, farmhouse cheeses or sausage and mash.

"The epitome of modern claret – packed full of ripe, juicy fruit, yet elegant and hugely drinkable" Jean-Marc Sauboua
