More information
Even if you’re an avid Sauvignon fan, chances are you won’t yet have encountered a gem quite like Casa Bataneros, forged on the high plains of Valdepeñas. Throughout history, the wines of this arid region have been well regarded, and are now highly valued as the ‘cru’ of central Spain. King Philip II was partial to a drop of red as far back as the 16th century. These days, modern vineyard management and state of the art winemaking enable fabulously fresh whites to be made here as never before. Casa Bataneros is from one of the region’s most successful and advanced cellars, founded and still owned by the Félix Solís family. Ripe pineapple with lemon freshness makes it an ideal apéritif or partner to fruity dishes like prawn and mango salad.
