If you’ve enjoyed a richly textured Meursault, you'll love this more affordable alternative. The Matrot family can trace their heritage in the appellation back to the 19th century. Today the estate is in the hands of Thierry and his two daughters Elsa and Adèle. Their splendid Bourgogne Blanc stands out from the crowd as it is made from the rich fruit of old Chardonnay vines near the leading village of Meursault. Furthermore, it was aged in French barrels, a fifth of which were new. It gains extra richness too from stirring the wine on its lees. The result is a fine wine of great freshness, fruit and minerality. It’s lovely now or will keep a year or two. Wine Advocate called it "a round, charming wine". Ideal with sauced chicken or fish.
