Fabulous Rioja Reserva from the outstanding Martínez Bujanda estate with a mellow seven years' age
Tony Laithwaite was the first to befriend Bodega Martínez Bujanda in the 1980s and import their wines to the UK. The family had just completed a state of the art winery and they remain today one of the most advanced and innovative in the region. We have stayed firm friends with this great bodega ever since and seen it win many top awards. It has also been ranked among the Top 50 Wineries in the World nine times in succession. This long friendship affords us some special favours, which includes a parcel of this great Rioja 2013. Nearly all Tempranillo, aged over two years in oak barrels (like a Gran Reserva), this is a delicious, complex and beautifully balanced red. Open early and serve with roast lamb, game or stuffed Portobello mushrooms.
