Domaine Jean Chauvenet Nuits-St-Georges 2016

Nuits-Saint-Georges AOC

From an estate making some of the most elegant and stylish wines in Nuits Saint Georges comes this gorgeous, fruit laden Burgundy. 2016 was an extremely challenging vintage, which miraculously produced “hauntingly beautiful reds” (Vinous). A delight.

Burgundy and Pinot Noir are responsible for some of the world’s finest red wines. Not heavyweights, but wines that deliver an amazing panoply of flavours. Family owned Domaine Jean Chauvenet has a peerless reputation for producing “some of the most stylish, elegant wines in Nuits Saint Georges” – an opinion shared by Masters of Wine Clive Coates and Jasper Morris. Since 1994 the wines have been made by Jean’s son-in-law Christophe Drag, who brings a meticulous approach to the cellar, instilled during his years at the Beaune wine school. After fermentation, this old-vine cuvée was aged in oak barrels to achieve a delicious, silky, fragrant character. This is a classic red Burgundy, best decanted and served with sauced white meats or duck.
