Vougeraie is the superb Boisset family estate. In 1961 Jean-Claude Boisset purchased Gevrey’s Les Evocelles, and since then they’ve added vineyards across 36 appellations, covering 42 hectares of premium land. They brought the vineyards together in one estate in 1999 to make Domaine de la Vougeraie. Large for Burgundy, but there’s no compromise in quality. Every plot is managed organically and biodynamically for a purer expression of the vines’ terroir. ?This fine white uses 60% whole bunches, with the juice first fermented in stainless steel, then transferred to oak barriques, 30% of those new. 18 months’ ageing lends rich spice to balance the intense fruit of the wine. Sublime with sauced fish or chicken. Open early and decant.
