Bramito Chardonnay 2018

Umbria IGP

Antinori’s Castello della Sala is world renowned for its magnificent, and pricy, Cervaro Chardonnay. This is the fabulous second wine, using younger vine fruit and lavished with the same Grand Cru care. A luscious, oaked white at an affordable price.

Over 26 generations the Antinori family have built up a reputation for producing some of the world’s finest wines. The current owner is Marchese Piero Antinori, famous for starting the Super Tuscan movement in the 1970s and spearheading a quality revolution in wine. And he has done the same in Umbria. His father purchased Castello della Sala in 1940, where the family turned their attention to making white wines. The first vintage of the great Cevaro was in 1985, with Bramito launched in 1994. The grapes are from younger Chardonnay vines on the estate, the juice part barrel fermented with malolactic to lend a luscious, creamy texture and flavour to the wine. Made by one of Italy’s very best winemakers, Renzo Cotarella, this is a fine white.

"Fantastic value and easy-drinking appeal. It plays its few ace cards with an expert hand" Monica Larner for 2017
