This is a small batch, handcrafted gem from the highly rated Blue Pyrenees Estate. It was founded in 1961 when French company Rémy Martin recognised that the soils and cool climate of the Victorian Pyrenees would be perfect for producing quality wines. Today Blue Pyrenees is 100% Aussie owned, and all their wines are made with estate grown fruit. The winery’s flagship ‘Estate’ red uses the very best grapes from each of the vineyards, vinifying each batch separately, then later blending them together. Ageing in 40% new French oak barrels for a full 22 months allows the flavours to knit together to produce this superbly balanced, complex and long flavoured red. No rush – it’s still improving. Open early, decant and serve with beef dishes.
