This exceptional cuvée was first created in 1964 as a tribute to Nicolas François Billecart, who founded the house with brother in law Louis Salmon in 1818. Its release in 2018 celebrates Billecart-Salmon’s 200th anniversary. This magnificent fizz is a blend of Grands Crus from Côte de Blancs for Chardonnay and Montagne de Reims for Pinot Noir. One fifth of the wine is vinified in oak barrels with a portion allowed to go through a malolactic ferment to soften the acidity. Yet still it has an amazing drive of mineral freshness. Ten years’ ageing in bottle gives great layers of complexity, richness and length. So good is this wine that the 1959 vintage was placed first in the Champagne of the Millennium competition in 1999. Will cellar well.

"Super long and dense with lemon curd, white peaches and a toasty build to the finish. Superb!" James Suckling
