Those 150 years of winemaking know-how really shine through in this amazingly rich, densely flavoured Shiraz. It's from the Swan Hill region in Victoria and with a sunward facing slope and long hours of daylight, 1866 is a top spot for powerful, rich Shiraz. The vineyard is named after the year that Henry Best first planted vines. Decanter called it “a national treasure.” Taste the wine for yourself and you'll see what they mean. Best's have, of course, gained lots of small plots since then, but production is small and not many of their wines ever escape Australian clutches. All the more exciting for our Aussie buyer, Dan Parrott, when he was offered a small parcel of the 1866. It's layered with dark chocolatey fruit and black pepper spice.
