Pinotage is unique to South Africa, and Bellevue Estate boasts some of the very first plantings in the 1950s. Success soon followed with a Trophy for Best Wine in 1959. 60 years on, that outstanding quality continues in this big, ripe, velvety red.

Weighty and warming, this red is made from the handpicked grapes of Pinotage bush vines up to 60 years old. It comes from the Bellevue Estate in premium Stellenbosch, owned by the Morkel family since 1861. With a beautifully restored, original Cape Dutch homestead at its centre, the property grows a fabulous array of grapes, including the Cape’s unique Pinotage. Indeed, Bellevue is as famous there as the Kanonkop Estate for being one of the earliest pioneers of this variety. Winemakers Wilhelm Kritzinger and Anneke Potgieter are Pinotage specialists too. Aged in American oak, this wine’s rich berry fruit has taken on spicy, vanilla aromas, while tannins are beautifully rounded. Enjoy with barbecued chicken, char-grilled steaks or casserole.
