Bedrock Old Vine Zinfandel 2019

Sonoma Valley

The award-winning Bedrock winery’s 2019 Old Vine Zinfandel will go down in history as their best bottling. It’s a historic cellar with gnarled old vines planted as far back as 1888. Tiny yields of concentrated fruit make this complex, smoky red.

Bedrock’s vineyards cover 60 hectares of premium land in Sonoma Valley, one of California's finest areas. With vines dating back to 1888, their Zinfandel is mesmirising in its layers of rich flavour. Like most places, their 2019 vintage was tainted by covid, but rather than making it a lesser wine, it's boosted quality. Exceptional parcels of grapes, usually reserved for their single-vineyard wines, were instead included in their Old Vine Zinfandel. The result in fantastic value for the serious liquid inside! Raised in a mix of French and Austrian barrels, this is a classic California Zinfandel with a dense, dark core of perfumed fruit. The 2019 will go down as one of the best Old Vine bottlings they've made. Best with hearty dishes.

"The 2019 is gorgeous. Beautifully layered, it hits all the right notes. Buy as much as you can" Antonio Galloni
