Yarrunga Field Special Reserve Durif 2018

New South Wales

The Yarrunga Field wines have a strong following. Customers (and new winemaker Emma, too) also love Durif, so making a gorgeous, rich, black fruit and spice red purely from this grape, seemed like a no brainer. Velvety, full bodied, big on flavour.

We've been bringing you the irresistible Yarrunga Field range since the late 1990s. The original, a white, went down a storm then (with Oz Clarke and Jilly Goolden on the BBC, as well as with customers) and still does today, along with its sibling wines red and pink. This Reserve Edition Durif, however, is a new star in the Yarrunga family. Emma Norbiato – Women in Wine's 2016 Winemaker of the Year – took up the mantle as winemaker for the range in 2018 and, with new impetus, came up with this big, spicy, black fruit gem. The grapes were sourced from some top grower mates, small parcels that really show Durif off at its best. To serve this weighty red, decant an hour or two before serving, if you can, with hearty dishes and roast meats.

"Exciting new addition to the Yarrunga Field range – Reserve Durif. Dark, spicy and lavish" Dan Parrott
