Intense blackberry, cassis, blueberries and spice
Ascención Reserve stands head and shoulders above the rest in more ways than one. It comes from Argentina’s oldest estate, Colomé, in Salta, where vineyards rising to 3,000 metres produce fruit of mesmerising quality. While alluding to these dizzying altitudes, Ascención is also the name of the founder’s daughter. This trail blazing estate spares no expense in the vineyard or the cellar. Unsurprisingly, its finest Malbec is often rated over 90/100 by Wine Advocate. Winemaker Thibaut Delmotte selected premium, biodynamically grown Malbec from 35 year old vines and aged the wine in French and American oak. An intense purple with aromas of blackberry, blackcurrants and spice, it’s ideal with rare roast beef, T-bone steaks and strong cheeses.
