Presenting the Ardbeg drinker’s Ardbeg. Uigeadail strikes the perfect balance between classic Islay smoky salinity and the sweet depths of bourbon aged and sherry cask finished whisky. Easy to see why it’s won such a trawl of international awards.
Tasting notes
Brimming with honey and liquorice and a long smoky finish
Aroma
Heady aromas of Christmas cake, peat smoke and chocolate
Sure, Ardbeg has a certain cachet because their ‘house style’ 10 Year Old is the world’s peatiest whisky. Some of their other expressions go heavy on the brackish, almost medicinal notes that many Islay aficionados always look for. When the distillery asked their 120,000+ strong Ardbeg Committee of die-hard fans to name their favourite expression, Uigeadail won hands down. Named after the loch where the distillery draws all its water, Uigeadail (pronounced oog-a-dal) is cask strength Ardbeg, aged in bourbon casks and finished in old sherry butts. Smooth, deep and smoky, it has a wonderfully dark colour and luscious raisiny tones. Non chill filtered, it’ll reward a splash of water with smoky aromas of freshly baked banana bread and mocha.
