Andresen 20-year-old White Port (50cl in gift box) NV

Port

White port is traditionally drunk in its youth, but Andresen realised that the high quality white grapes from their solely A-rated vines were capable of so much more, given time and patience. This addictively sweet, nutty 20 year old, is sublime.

Andresen is one of the last remaining family owned port houses, renowned for their very old bottlings. A dedication to quality remains at their heart, and their openness to new ideas has led to this entirely new category – aged white port. Chief winemaker at the Andresen cellar and former head of tasting at the Port Wine Institute Alvaro Van Zeller is delighted with the result – and you can be sure that if it is up to his exacting standards, it’s something very special indeed. It certainly surprises and impresses customers in equal measure at every wine event we bring it along to. Smooth with an abundance of dried fruit and spice flavours and a delicious long finish, it is outstanding solo or as a partner to crème brûlée or fruit cake.

"Glorious, aged, amber-gold white port, with nutty, spiced quince and tea leaf flavours. Tangy" Jane McQuitty
