"From one of Argentina's oldest wineries, a delightful red with deep fruit, freshness and length"
Buyer for Argentina
This serious, old-vine Malbec perfectly illustrates why Argentina has become the new, much loved destination for this French grape. Argentine Malbec is loved for its inky colour and generous dark fruit. It tends to have gentler tannins than its French counterpart, which makes the wines even more appealing. Allayne comes from the prestigious Benegas family winery, whose owner's great grandfather was the first to plant grapes in Mendoza back in 1883. The fruit for Allayne, in fact, is sourced from one of the original vineyards, Finca Libertad. Now gnarly and old, the vines produce wonderfully intense flavoured fruit and wines that sing with blackberry, cassis and violets. Decant the wine an hour in advance and serve with steak or lamb.
