Located in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, Meursault is one Burgundy’s most prized villages. Its fine whites, which can mature into ravishing opulence, are some of the region’s most sought after. This superb, top vintage Meursault is from Albert Bichot, the wines of which are characterised by elegance and delicate nuance – think prima ballerina grace and precision footwork. In 2017 quality was outstanding – “so delicious and refreshing that I predict you will be seduced” (Neal Martin, Wine Advocate), “a nuanced, terroir-driven vintage” (James Suckling). This 2017 is from Bichot’s Domaine du Pavillon. Barrel ageing for up to 16 months with up to a third in new oak lends a rich seam of vanilla to this fine white. Tuck away if you can.
