Albastrele Sauvignon Blanc 2016

Codru

This Moldovan Sauvignon surprises and delights in equal measure. Zingy and refreshing but with amazing finesse for the money, it’s a fully fledged customer favourite, reflecting ideal wine growing conditions similar to New Zealand. Citrusy and crisp.

You may not hear wine critics mention Marlborough and Moldova in the same breath, but thanks to this superb Sauvignon that might change. Like Marlborough, Codru in Moldova has a long, slow ripening season ideal for Sauvignon Blanc. Albastrele is made with hand picked, naturally organic grapes from the Tvarditsa Estate at an award winning cellar equipped for producing whistle clean, modern whites. Until recently our in-house Sauvignon expert Jean-Marc Sauboua worked there with winemaker Vladimir Lazariuc to make a string of award winning vintages – now Vlad is very much ‘the master’. With its crisp, limey, stony character, Albastrele is truly impressive. It makes an elegant apéritif or a delicious match for white fish or smoked salmon.
