Château Siran is one of the Médoc’s great historic estates, dating back to 1428. Owned for a while by the Toulouse Lautrec family, it was purchased by the Miaihle family in 1858 and is now run by Edouard Miailhe. This fifth generation winemaker brings with him a determination to take quality up to Grand Cru level. Judging by taste and critics' comments, he is having success. Decanter Magazine considers Siran to be "a name to follow". According to James Suckling, the 2016 is "Greatest Siran ever!" With a high proportion of Merlot (44%), it's opening up already and is full of charming, elegant red fruit, with the true grip of Left Bank Cabernet and fine oak barrels. A claret that will reward patience. Alternatively open early and decant.
