Chat with Vinny
Across the slope from Saint Emilion’s Grands Crus Châteaux Faugères and de Pressac lies little Château de Colombe. It sits on the same limestone ridge but in less fashionable Castillon. Hence this appealing claret is both delicious and well priced.

Award winning Château de Colombe is tucked away in Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux, next to Saint Emilion. This tiny estate had been neglected but since we took ownership in 2012 it has being lavished with the utmost care in the vineyard and the cellar. Our Head Winemaker, Haut-Brion trained Jean-Marc Sauboua, quickly spotted the potential of its steep, south-facing slopes and limestone soils. Judging by the eight Golds won over the last three vintages, he was absolutely right. 2018 enjoyed a lovely hot summer and has resulted in a very ‘drink me now’ style. A meticulous selection of Merlot with a little of both Cabernets, aged a year in barrel, this red is deliciously supple. Still best to open early, then serve with roast meats or coq au vin.
