When Madame de Lencquesaing, owner of 2nd Growth Pichon Longueville, was looking for a new project, she saw what she wanted in Château Bernadotte. She bought it and the wines have since been on an upward curve. A superb, well priced Cru Bourgeois.

In 1997 Madame de Lencquesaing purchased Château Bernadotte and make significant investment in both the vineyard and the cellar for several reasons. Her family have always been interested in managing lesser known Médoc properties but, in this case, she was particularly impressed with the soil – a layer of deep gravel over clay typical of the best Bordeaux vineyards. The château, a magnificent building with immaculate grounds, also happens to be situated close to several prestigious Crus Classés. James Suckling said of the 2016 vintage, “some stunning wines particularly in the Medoc", and awarded this one 93 points. Decant at least an hour beforehand, then enjoy with roast meats. Or cellar longer and have with game or a rich mushroom dish.

"Boysenberries and dark berries with a wealth of bracken and gently tarry aromas, too. Fresh, fleshy" James Suckling
