This staff favourite is from next door to £25-a-bottle Planeta winery and was called "a belter – you won't believe the value" by The Daily Mail. It has a real cult following and is packed with an orchard of ripe and zesty summer fruit flavours.

Back in the 1980s, the pioneering Planeta family put Sicily on the wine map with their award winning Chardonnay grown on hillside slopes leading down to Lago di Arancio. Planeta Chardonnay is now costly, but a tip off from our friend Alessandro Gallici led us to a nearby producer and this fresh Chardonnay at a far more approachable price. I Corleonesi is made by Leonardo Urso, who’s crafted a wonderfully fresh Chardonnay with bright pineapple and pear fruit of lovely intensity, a crisp edge and a touch of creamy oak. 2015 was a 5-Star vintage throughout Italy and grapes from this single vineyard estate had excellent ripeness. This wine makes an ideal choice with Sicilian seafood dishes. Recommended for taste and value by The Daily Mail!
