Description
Andrew McPherson is the second generation in his family to go into winemaking. His father Jock was the first - a bit of a maverick figure, who tried his hand at being a radio announcer, navigator, airman, professional fisherman, duck farmer, publicist, publisher and sawmill owner before he finally found his calling in life!

However, winemaking stuck and he set up a cellar in the prestigious Hunter Valley in 1968 in the pioneering days of wine in Australia ... when sweet, fortified, rather than dry table, wines were much more commonly found in Oz and when hardly a bottle left Australian shores.

Andrew is an equally spirited individual and preferred to journey abroad to gain experience, rather than immediately joining the family firm. He travelled the world, designing and managing the building of new wineries. He also became an expert at processing orange juice, an experience which helped him understand the process of cool fermentation in wines. He also worked with prestigious cellars Wyndham Estate and Château Tahbilk.

Since 1990, however, Andrew has returned to his roots, making wine his core business. He built a high-tech winery at Nagambie, near the Goulburn Valley in Victoria, and is making a superb range of wines.
