Splendid northern Rhône Syrah from a seventh generation winemaking family. The vines, between 40 and 95 years old, grow 'en gobelet' - as individual bushes - clinging to steep slopes of lean, crushed granite and silt. This makes for tiny, thick-skinned grapes and very imposing wines.

The '05 is dense purple with cassis and mulberry fruit and, as always, will be bottled unfiltered to retain its full impact. Drink 2007-2016.
