Description
Yann's father Bernard established the Chave family's reputation for rigorous winemaking. This year marks the tenth anniversary of son Yann making the wine here, and it's clear to followers of the domaine that every year sees a step up in quality (the Crozes-Hermitage in particular offers astonishing value).

Yann's single-minded hard work is just beginning to earn the reputation he deserves, and his 2005s will raise his profile still further. Now's a very good time to stock up with his wines, before word gets out and prices rise.

Purity, intensity and masterfully integrated oak put this at the pinnacle of Hermitage wines. Grapes from ancient vines give Yann an advantage but selective use of modern techniques such as micro-oxygenation enhance the rich, black fruit flavours and ensure the tannins are flawlessly smooth.
