La Chapelle des Bois 2004Rare, elegant Fleurie " the epitome of a Beaujolais Cru: fruity, scented, silky, racy …" Hugh Johnson
"Especially from Chapelle des Bois" adds Hugh. Great news for all Fleurie fans - we've tracked down a limited edition release from the very plot of vines which Hugh so enthusiastically champions. Fine vintage too!
La Chapelle des Bois is a 'lieu dit', a revered, granite-soiled vineyard on which ancient Gamay - famous grape of Beaujolais - positively thrives. These old vines produce some of the most exquisite reds in all of Beaujolais. This is made by Richard Lamarre, a long-time friend of The Club and a Fleurie master. He's crafted a wonderfully rich wine of great finesse, a classic hallmark of this 'insider's vintage'.
Swirl your glass and take in the attractive ruby colour and raspberry and violet aromas. Silky smooth and elegant (think good Burgundy) with opulent Summer berry flavours which are mellow and round after three years in bottle. Excellent with game.
