Description
Two decades ago, the Viognier grape was rarely seen beyond the borders of the northern Rhône and only in the wines of Condrieu, Côte-Rôtie (a red Rhône that uses around 10% of this white grape) and Château-Grillet. Then with the rise in popularity of Rhône wines, so Viognier began slowly to spread its roots. In just small quantities, it can now be discovered in the Languedoc and also in the New World. California's Rhône Rangers were its first champion, but you will also find plantings in New Zealand, Australia, Chile and Argentina.

This aromatic white is an exclusive cuvée made especially for us by Andean Vineyards, one of the most accomplished and awarded in all Argentina. They have facilities both in Mendoza and outback San Juan to the northwest. Chief winemaker is Rodolfo Opi Sadler, who also has many accolades to his name and is rated among the Top Ten in the country. He scooped 'Best Malbec of Argentina' in 2008, a formidable feat as this is the flagship grape of Argentina. He was so pleased with the finished wine at its final tasting that he requested it be given his name, the highest honour he could lend it.

The wine is pure Viognier, gathered from the Tullum Valley, cool fermented to capture all the luscious flavour and blossom aromas and bottled with no oak-ageing to detract from the fruit.
