Description
Andrew McPherson was first introduced to wine by his dad, Jock, who set up a winery in the prestigious Hunter Valley in 1968. Instead of taking the easy route and joining his father, Andrew decided first to travel the world and gain experience. He proceeded to design and manage the building of several wineries and juice processing plants throughout Australia, Europe and America.
Since 1990, however, Andrew has returned to his roots, making the production of wine his core business. He has a few young vineyards of his own, plus a high-tech winery at Nagambie, near the Goulburn Valley.
Catriona Louise McPherson, after which this wine is named, is regarded as the black sheep of the family, having become a corporate lawyer instead of taking a proper job in the wine industry! Her father Andrew consoles himself with the fact that she does at least drink his wine (this Chardonnay is her very favourite), is an excellent taster and that one day her profession might come in useful!
Andrew has made this rich, rounded white from grapes sourced from the warm, sunny vineyards around Mildura. The wine is pure, well-ripened Chardonnay, cool fermented, then oak-aged to add toasty spice and scented vanilla to the rich fruit.
