Domaine Millot-Battault 2004Wonderfully opulent, cream-and-vanilla Meursault - one to savour
Pierre Millot believes in robust, full-bodied white wines showing plenty of buttery, vanilla aromas of toasty oak ... "although not terribly well known, this is a very good estate" says wine guru Robert Parker in his book on Burgundy.
Made using meticulously selected Chardonnay grapes, only the very best fruit reaches Pierre's chai for a year's ageing in finest oak barrels, adding layer upon layer of complexity to the ripe, peachy fruit.
"Clear and bright with a light golden hue, this is extremely fine Meursault. Ripe and round, with indulgent peach and apricot, buttery toast and plenty of vanilla, this wonderful richness is beautifully balanced by a citrus crispness on the finish. Enjoy now or cellar for several years to come, it makes a wonderful accompaniment to roast poultry."
